Hawks battled back from a 4 to 1, and then 6 to 2 deficits to defeat
Paw Paw 13 to 11 Friday. The Hawks banged out 15 hits, coming from
9 different Hawks. The win moves the Hawks to 5-9 (4-3 in LTC)
Eight different Hawks scored runs in the game, and 7 different Hawks
had RBIs in the game. The winner was Mike Mercado who came in relief,
and picking up the save
was Tyler Berger. Hitting stars were Will Corn who went 3-3 with
3 RBIs, Tyler Burger who also had 3 RBIs and was a homer short of
the cycle, Ed Canchola who had 2
RBIs, and Donald Giebel who had 2 RBIs and drove in the winning
run. The Hawks also had their first game of the season error free. |

game to get the win. Coming through with big hits were Nick Doolittle

Mike Mercado and Ed Canchola who each had 2 hits and 3 RBIs each,
and Grant Nelson who went 3-3 with 2 runs. The defense was perfect
with no errors in helping Donald to the win. |

Hawks started the first game of the double header with a 7-2 win.
Picking up the victory was Tyler Burger, who pitched a complete
game giving up only 5 hits, 2 earned runs, and struck out 4. Helping
seal the game with solid defense was Levi Novotny who made a sliding
catch in center in the 7th, and Ed Canchola who had numerous solid
plays at 3rd. At the plate Tyler Burger helped his own cause with
2 RBIs, 2 hits, and a run scored, and Grant Nelson who also drove
in 2 runs and had the only extra base hit of the game for the Hawks
with a double. |

The Hawks battled
back to win against HBR 4-2. The Hawks came back twice to battle
to the win, (8-8 Little Ten). Mike Mercado got a ND, but gave up
only 1 earned run, 2 total, while striking out 5, walking only 1
in 5 and 1/3 innings. At the plate Mike also drove in the game trying
run in the 6th. Will Corn came in to help on the mound with 1 out
in the 6th and with runners on 2nd and 3rd. He struck out the first
batter, and induced the next batter to ground out ending the inning.
In the top half of the 7th Will was able to strike out 2 of the
4 hitters he faced to end the game and pick up the win. At the plate
Will had a hit and a run scored and Nick Doolittle had 2 hits, driving
in the go ahead and insurance run in the bottom of the 6th. |
